[NORTHERN GOLF COURSE SURVEY] – Dragon Golf Links – A Rare Beauty of Mountains and Water in Do Son

After an exciting day of golf and cruising in Ha Long, on July 21, the survey team of the Vietnam Golf & Leisure Awards visited Dragon Golf Links – a new ‘mountain-backed, sea-facing’ golf course in Hai Phong, with stunning views of the vast Do Son seacoast.

• Located within the Dragon Ocean Do Son International Tourism Complex, Dragon Golf Links is a 27-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman Golf Course Design. This golf course is ideal for golf enthusiasts and families seeking high-end entertainment, with an artificial beach, amusement park, resort, and more.

• The first impression of the survey team upon arriving at Dragon Golf Links was the modern and spacious clubhouse, striking with its giant sacred dragon design, with prominent white against the lush green grass. The team members were ensured a swift check-in process, and the staff provided gentle and friendly service. The locker room has everything a golfer needs, including a sauna and a swimming pool.

• In terms of design, Dragon Golf Links is flat and well-designed. The eastern side of the golf course is sheltered by a lush primary forest, while mangrove forests protect the western side. Backed by the mountains, the central holes offer expansive and panoramic sea views. The course features 9 seaside holes, with some holes, such as 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, and 14, running parallel to and perpendicular to the sea. These holes are worth experiencing as they offer both dreamy, expansive views from tee to green and a challenging experience with the wind, a characteristic feature of links golf courses.

• On calm days, a skilled golfer can achieve low scores thanks to the ‘lovely’ fairways that provide good shots, but when the wind picks up, it turns into a different golf course. The bunkers with their white sand are well-placed and combined with strategically located water hazards/streams crossing the fairways make the shots here quite challenging. The large, well-maintained greens offer comfortable resting spots, giving you time to listen to advice from knowledgeable and friendly caddies.
